Paddle the Wye – a 2 day canoe trip with B&B accommodation

Size of group: 6 – 8 FULL

Cost: Approx. £280 – £300 per couple

IMAG0050For those of you who do not want to camp, this gives you an opportunity to experience the beauty and the thrill of paddling the Wye with a little bit of overnight comfort. We all meet at Ross-on-Wye Canoe Hire Company in Symonds Yat West before being transported with our canoes to Ross where we enter the water. Having grasped the basics of paddling we begin our journey downstream, stopping at Kerne Bridge for a bite of lunch. The afternoon takes us through the stunning scenery of Yat Rock, which the river circumnavigates in a huge loop. Our journey at the end of the first day ends at the steps up to the Old Ferrie Inn at Symonds Yat West. There we can enjoy an evening of good food, deserved drinks and convivial conversation.

FullSizeRender-13After breakfast, we take to the water again and tackle the Symonds Yat rapids, a minor ripple on our journey to Redbrook. Having successfully negotiated the rapids we have a delightful spell where we can drift aimlessly through the tree-lined gorge. Having passed through the gorge we head for Monmouth where we will have a picnic lunch. After lunch it is an easy paddle to Redbrook, the end coming far too soon. Transport will be waiting to pick us up and return us to our cars.

As with the other Wye trips, I will pay for everything and then we can simply divide the cost by the number of us in the group.

If you are interested, please do get in touch.

  1. Hi John – I don’t think I want to do the four day trip again, much as I enjoyed it. However, I rather fancy the two day trip with overnight accommodation! I would probably bring my friend, Cath, along too, though I haven’t discussed it with her yet. You met her on the Malverns last year, if you remember. So I am expressing interest at this stage. X
