Experience some of our finest countryside between Winchester, the first capital of England, and the white chalk cliffs at Eastbourne. If you’re looking for attractive wildlife, visible prehistory, fine pubs and pretty villages, or if you just fancy a challenge, the 100 miles of the South Downs Way awaits you.

Leaving the Midlands early on the morning of 12th June, the minibus will transport you to Winchester, the starting point for the walk. All being well we should be there by late morning. Camp will already be set up and you will be met at the start by David and me. We will then be able to get a few miles covered before the minibus meets us and transports us all back to camp near Pulborough, where camp will be throughout the trip.

I am mindful that I do not want to give you distances to walk, which you may find uncomfortable. Hopefully, because we have a couple of shorter days we will be able to take some time out  to visit one or two of the more interesting places along the route. One of those may well be the Weald and Down Museum, which features on the Repair Shop on BBC2.  I am aiming to finish the walk on the 21st and travel home the same day. That will not prevent us from enjoying a celebratory meal on the Saturday evening.
